The Intel® VROC (SATA RAID) package supports several combinations of SATA drives, arrays and RAID volumes. The following information lists and explains the maximum hardware configurations allowed. Intel® VROC (SATA RAID) Features

Maximum Number of SATA Drives Supported in a RAID Volume
Intel® VROC (SATA RAID) supports the ability to create SATA RAID volumes from a maximum number of drives equal to the number of ports on the SATA controller on the platform.
Maximum Number of sSATA/tSATA Drives Supported in a RAID Volume
Intel® VROC (SATA RAID) supports the ability to create sSATA/tSATA RAID volumes from a maximum number of drives equal to the number of ports on the sSATA/tSATA controller on the platform.
Maximum Number of RAID Volumes
Intel® VROC (SATA RAID) supports the ability to create a maximum number of RAID volumes equal to double the number of maximum arrays supported by the platform (corresponding to the SATA/sSATA/tSATA controller).
